Charity Fundraising

The opportunity to give service to others and to look outwards to the local, national and international community is regarded as an important part of the education offered at Westcliff High School for Boys.

We encourage our pupils to be conscientious citizens and each year the School adopts two particular charities, one national or international and one local, chosen by students.

The Charity Committee, comprising Lower Sixth students, organises events throughout the year to raise money for the School’s chosen charities.  Fundraising efforts focus on an annual programme of student-led events all aimed at raising as much money as possible from within the School Community.  Events popular with students over the years have included 'Battle of the Bands' and 'West Fest', the Lower School Disco, eating challenges with 'Bush Tucker Trials' and Non-Uniform Days.  For the entertainment of the School Community, Staff participation is encouraged with Teacher 5-a-side Football, a pantomime and ‘Teacher Karaoke’ competition.  Other crowd-pullers have been 'Westcliff's Got Talent' and the 'WHSB Bake Off'.   The Sixth Form Charity Committee members raise money themselves by supermarket bag-packing, washing cars and having their heads shaved (optional!).  Our Charity Fundraising Programme typically raises many thousands of pounds annually for good causes.

The School's chosen charity for the 2022/23 academic year is Gold Geese and MNDA.

By donating I confirm that I have paid or will pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for the current tax year that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs that I donate to will reclaim on my gifts for the current tax year. I understand that other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify. I understand the charity will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I have given.

Using this option the School is unable to claim Gift Aid on your donation.  If you are able to use the Gift Aid option we would appreciate it.
