WHSB enjoyed success in the British Biology Olympiad

Students at WHSB have once again enjoyed success in the British Biology Olympiad. This annual, prestigious competition is designed to challenge the UK’s brightest young minds in the field of biology. Organised by the registered charity UK Biology Competitions (UKBC), the Olympiad is open to pre-university students aged 16–18 and is recognised as an advanced problem-solving competition for A-level students.

The competition is exceptionally rigorous, with most schools entering only their highest-achieving students. The awards given reflect this: the top 5% of entrants receive Gold, 10% Silver, and 15% Bronze. This year, WHSB was represented by 19 students, of whom four were awarded Gold, six Silver, and five Bronze. This is an outstanding achievement, ranking among the School’s best-ever results.

Our Gold award winners this year are Upper Sixth students: Daniel, George, Jennah, and Jarad. Daniel will now proceed to the next round — a preliminary for National Team selection — leading to the international final taking place in Lithuania this July.

We are immensely proud of all our participants and congratulate them on these superb results. We also wish Daniel every success in the National Team's selection process. With our thanks to Mr Marriott for preparing the students and facilitating the School’s entry into this year's competition.
