Royal Navy Cadets selected to be official wreath bearers at London’s Trafalgar Day

We are delighted that three of our Royal Navy Cadets have been selected to be official wreath bearers during London’s Trafalgar Day celebrations today. During the parade, Oliver, Thomas and Vincent will carry the CCF, Army Cadet Force and Volunteer Cadet Corps wreaths on behalf of all cadet forces nationally. The three cadets will present the wreaths to the VIPs attending today, including senior military personnel and dignitaries.

This is a huge honour for the cadets and for Westcliff High School for Boys. This solemn tradition, dating back to the 19th century, remembers the sacrifices made by the Royal Navy and the loss of life at the Battle of Trafalgar. While the day’s events celebrate the Royal Navy’s victory in 1805 today, there is also a sense of loss for those who died, including Admiral Nelson, and this tradition serves as a remembrance for those who bravely served.
