WHSB celebrates historic trio of Arkwright Scholars

The School is delighted to announce that three of our Year 11 pupils have successfully secured Arkwright Engineering Scholarships this term. As one of the UK's most prestigious STEM awards, the Arkwright Engineering Scholarship programme identifies, inspires, and nurtures high-potential young people aged 16–18, supporting them through their A-Levels, IB, or Scottish Highers. Administered by the Smallpeice Trust, the scheme provides recipients with funding, industry mentorship, and exclusive university connections.
The successful pupils—Jamie, Sultan, and Misha—passed a highly competitive, multi-stage national selection process to earn their awards. While the School has a proud history of nurturing Arkwright Scholars, we typically celebrate just one recipient per year. Securing three scholarships simultaneously marks an impressive first for WHSB. This landmark achievement highlights an exceptionally strong year for engineering and design at the School. Behind this historic success is a year-long preparation programme led by Mr Moore. The School extends its sincere thanks to him for his invaluable guidance, and our School community congratulates Jamie, Sultan, and Misha on their outstanding achievement.
